Cubs Use Long Ball To Beat Captains
EASTLAKE, OHIO – South Bend used the longball Friday night to beat the Lake County Captains, 7-5.
Matt Rose hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning, the third Cubs homer of the night. Andrew Ely also hit a two-run shot and Eloy Jimenez added a solo shot for the Cubs.
Bryant Flete had an RBI double and scored a run for the Cubs (23-16), which blew a 5-3 lead in the ninth.
Bobby Ison singled in two runs in the bottom of the ninth after the Captains had loaded the bases with one out.
Connor Marabell homered among his three hits and three runs scored to lead the Captains (24-17).
Craig Brooks blew the save for South Bend, but earned the win. Kieran Lovegrove took the loss for Lake County.
The two teams play again Saturday night at 6:05 p.m.
