Cross Generational Activities are a New Trend

A new library program is for mixed ages. The Syracuse Library is entering the second year of Meet Doctor Who, a program for anyone eight year old through older adults. The next Doctor Who program is Wednesday, May 25 at 6 p.m. The Doctor Who series is so complicated that a group setting is a fantastic way to stay refreshed on the story.

Adults and teens should plan on participating in the Bicentennial Book Battle. Teens challenge adults to see which group reads 200 books first and wins a catered movie night. The participants in the winning group will get to invite another person to attend their party.

All new this summer are programs for children, teens, adults and cross-generational groups. Wednesday is the last day for the children’s programs; Toddler Dance at 10:30 a.m. and After-school Books and Crafts at 4 p.m. One Book, One Hour Book Club, Meet Doctor Who, and Lego Build are the only programs to continue. Call the Syracuse Library at (574) 457-3022 for questions about programs.

Geocaching

The Syracuse Library regularly hosts official Geocaching events. Registered events allow participants to get points and rewards for attending along with the opportunity to meet fellow Geocachers and enjoy the event. The next event is WWFM – XIII Bookworm at the Library, GC6GRE9. Which translates for you Muggles as a flashmob happening on June 4 at 11:45 a.m.to 1:30 p.m. Bring your favorite book or use one of ours. Refreshments will be provided. People that want some beginning activities can come to a class at 11 a.m. which will be led by veteran Geocacher, Deb Griggs.

The Syracuse Library has many easy crafts for children to make. Shown is a recent group of children that attended the after school book and craft time. This summer children have star activities with singing, acting and art to investigate their creative side.
