Helen B. Shafer of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 5 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Warsaw Meadows Care Center at the age of 93.

She was born on September 14, 1922, in Mishawaka, to Mary Jane (Drabenstott) and William C. Schue. On September 19, 1940, she married to Robert E. Shafer, he passed away on May 18, 1997. They shared 56 years of marriage together.

She was a 1940 graduate of Warsaw High School and a member of Warsaw First Brethren Church since 1933, also having sung in the church choir for a number of years. Throughout her life she sent out many inspirational cards, with words of encouragement. She once worked at Walter’s Drug Store, where she was an expert on Revlon Cosmetics, and Helen worked for many years at Da-Lite Screen in Warsaw and retired in 1984. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, but most of all her family.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter: Anne K. Shafer, Warsaw; son: Benjamin R. (wife Karla) Shafer, Mancelona, Mich.; four grandchildren: Greg Shafer, Tricia (husband Steve) LeCount and Stefanie Andrew) Spangle, all of Warsaw; and Wonnie Shafer, Tamarac, Fla.;  She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; as well as her brother: Harold Schue, Warsaw; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter, two great granddaughters, one great grandson, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be held at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, on Tuesday, May 17, from 4-7 p.m.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Cheryl Kisner. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
