Wawasee Golf: Warriors Move To 4-0
SYRACUSE – Wawasee sits in great position after the first week of play in the Northern Lakes Conference boys golf round robin. The Warriors picked up two more wins Thursday, shooting 170 to drop Elkhart Memorial (184) and Concord (186) at a soggy South Shore Golf Course.
Jeffrey Moore wasn’t the medalist of the match, but shot a 39 to lead the Warriors. A 42 from Cal Heinisch, 44 from Kyle Weideman and 45 from Cameron Adams comprised Wawasee’s output, moving to 4-0 in the NLC standings.
Michael Foy was the man of the match, shooting a one-over 37 for the Chargers. Kyle Stansbury had a 42, David Fiant a 47 and 58 from Carter Schrock made Memorial’s figure.
Concord had Reed Horton post a 41, Brendin Green a 45, Micah Stamm a 47 and Austin Stamm a 53.
“We came back and played well,” stated Wawasee head coach Steve Coverstone. “I was concerned for two reasons. It was senior night and we had a couple of big wins last night. Jeffrey did well and Cal came back from a nine on his second hole.”
Wawasee shot a 182 to best Concord’s 195 in the JV grid. Trevoe Haessig led Wawasee’s juniors with a 41.
The Warriors will next tee up at the Culver Academy Invite this Saturday at Mystic Hills.
