Lugnuts Shut Down Cubs
LANSING – The combination of Jon Harris and Angel Perdomo held South Bend to just two hits in a 5-0 Lansing Lugnuts win Thursday night.
Harris (2-0) went five innings, giving up a pair of hits and two walks, but didn’t allow give South Bend a chance with runners in scoring position. The Cubs were 0-2 with runners in scoring position. Perdomo worked the final four innings, issuing just one walk and striking out seven for the long save.
Max Pentecost went 3-4 with a homer to lead Lansing. Pentecost hit a solo home run in the third and added an RBI single in the first. Josh Almonte added a two-run double in the third.
PJ Higgins and Donnie DeWees had singles for the Cubs. Kyle Twomey (0-3) worked five innings for the visitors, giving up four earned runs.
South Bend and Lansing play again at 7:05 p.m. Friday in Michigan’s state capital.
