
Baseball
The Wawasee baseball team was back in action Saturday morning. The Warriors hosted Ft. Wayne Concordia and the visiting Cadets won 11-1 in five innings.
Chase Rookstool, Jacob Garcia and Harrison Shortill all had one hit for the Warriors. Rookstool also had a stolen base.
Wawasee (4-14-1) will travel to NorthWood on Monday.
Softball
Wawasee’s softball team had a bag of mixed results at the annual Eastside Invitational. The ladies knocked off 2A’s No. 1 team in Bremen 2-1 to start the day but then fell 6-2 to Eastside.
Meghan Fretz led Wawasee with two hits in the first game while Cristina DeLaFuente led the team with one RBI. Fretz also pitched seven innings for the Warriors and recorded 14 strikeouts.
Kayla White led Wawasee with a pair of hits in the second game of the day. White also had two RBIs.
Wawasee (15-4) hosts NorthWood on Monday.
Golf
The Wawasee golf team placed seventh at the Concord Invite on Saturday. The Warriors shot a 368.
Jeffrey Moore shot a 76, the second lowest score of the tournament. Cameron Adams was Wawasee’s next lowest score at 94. Kyle Weideman had a 97 while the scores for the Green and Gold were rounded out by Jayce Boatwright (101) and Trevor Haessig (106).
The Warriors will play at Penn on Monday.
Girls Track and Field
Wawasee competed at the Goshen Relays Saturday afternoon.
The trip to the storied event for Wawasee was highlighted by Katlyn Kennedy. The senior once again broke her own school record in the shot. Kennedy threw a 39-8 to place first in the event.
The 4×400 relay team of Kenzie Smith, Aubrey Kuhn, Hannah-Marie Lamle and Sarah Lancaster ran a personal best in the event with a time of 4:17.83.
