SYRACUSE — The Wawasee baseball team suffered another heart breaker Friday night. Memorial visited for the second half of the two team’s conference double round robin and left with a razor-thin 5-4 victory.

A 3-3 tie between the two squads was broken in the fifth inning as Wawasee’s Spencer Prescott crossed home on a wild pitch. The Warriors held on to that lead until the top of the seventh where the Chargers would go up 5-4 and, eventually, hang on for the win.

Jamie Slabaugh, Chase Rookstool and Harrison Shortill led Wawasee with two hits apiece. Rookstool led all players with two RBIs.

Memorial was led by Justin Walter’s three hits. Four other players had two hits for the Chargers.

Wawasee (4-13, 1-8) hosts Ft. Wayne Concordia for a double header Saturday morning.
