Tigers Stun Northridge, Sit Atop NLC

Warsaw moved to 4-1 in the Northern Lakes Conference with a 3-2 baseball win against visiting Northridge Wednesday afternoon.

Marselo Rodriguez played the role of hero for the Tigers again, crushing a two-run homer and adding a single to pace the Warsaw offense.

Pitcher Jordan Jones earned his third win of the season, holding Northridge to just four hits in another gem of a performance.

Warsaw moves to 6-5 overall, and sits with NorthWood atop the conference heap. The Tigers beat the Panthers Monday afternoon.

In the JV game, Northridge claimed a 7-1 victory. Jared Hawley and Derrick Backus had doubles for the Tigers.

Warsaw will travel to Elkhart Central Thursday.

Lady Tigers Hit Cold Spell

Warsaw couldn’t awaken its bats Wednesday, mustering just three hits in a 10-0 softball loss at Northridge.

The Tigers (2-10, 2-3 NLC) managed just three singles and five baserunners overall. The pitching from Raider Allison Hostetler had a lot to do with it, striking out eight in the six-inning complete game.

Courtney Chookie took the loss for Warsaw, giving up nine hits and five walks.

Sara Troyer had three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored for the Raiders, while Kylee Lantz added two hits and a walk and Jada Crofoot knocked two in.

Warsaw will host Concord Friday afternoon.
