David W. Bottorff, 63, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, of natural causes at his home.
David was born on Jan. 14, 1953, in Plymouth, to William and Carol (Mattern) Bottorff. He was a graduate of John Glenn High School class of 1971. David was a truck driver and general labor for American Roller Company until health issues no longer allowed him to work. On Jan. 28, 1984, David married the former Virginia A. Gilmer at the Blissville Church of the Brethren. He was a member of the Blissville Church of the Brethren, son of the American Legion and VFW. David’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his four grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife: Virginia, Walkerton; his two daughters: Trisha (Craig) Livesay, Lizton; Shannon (Don) Burke, Pittsboro; his two stepdaughters: Angie McKesson, Walkerton; and Jennifer (Aaron) McQueen, Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada; four grandchildren: Noah Livesay; Emma Livesay; Kate Burke; Alex Burke; his father: William Bottorff; his sister: Cathy (Mark) Sage, Palm Harbor, Fla.; two nephews: Chris Sage; Brandon Sage. He was preceded in death by his mother: Carol E. Bottorff on March 19, 2010; and his brother: William B. Bottorff, on Dec. 12, 2006.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home is caring for the Bottorff family. A funeral in honor of David will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, with Pastor Brandon Schadek officiating. Burial will follow at the Tyner Cemetery. A time of visiting will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth.
The Bottorff family has requested memorial contributions be given to the family to assist with the care of Virginia.
