Tippy Valley SportsTennis Team Notches Win

The Vikings posted four convincing wins to top visiting Peru 4-1 on Tuesday night.

Maddy Henninger and Lea Stouder each won in singles play to lead Valley. Henninger won 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at No. 2 and Stouder posted a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3.

The Vikings also took both doubles matches as Morgan Brazo and Kennedy Niedbalski won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 and the team of Brooke Danner and Cassidy Cave prevailed 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.

Aerin Shewman dropped a 6-0, 6-1 final at No. 1 singles action for the Vikings.

Valley is slated to host John Glenn Wednesday.

Softball Team Falls

A strong Pioneer team defeated the Vikings 17-3 in a five-inning softball contest.

Pioneer scored eight runs in the third inning to take control of the game. Valley had six errors in the loss.

Kayla Scott had two hits and an RBI for the Vikings. Abby Betten and Katie Gunter each also had two hits for Valley.

Emily Powell had a double and drove in four runs for Pioneer, which improved to 8-3.

Valley (6-8) will play at Maconaquah Wednesday.

Eagles Outscore Vikings

Culver Military Academy was able to outscore Valley 15-14 in nine innings for a non-conference baseball win.

The host Eagles had 14 hits and took advantage of six errors by the Vikings.

Alec Craig went 4-6 at the dish and scored four runs to lead the Valley offense.

Gavin Bussard was 3-5 with three RBI and three runs scored for the Vikings. Jesse Floor had three RBI, Brandon Webster two and Jay Meyers two hits for Valley. Webster took the pitching loss despite allowing just one earned run in three innings of work.

Valley, now 6-3,  will play at Maconaquah Wednesday.
