MILFORD — The driver of a GMC truck stated he briefly nodded off while driving north on Old SR 15, north of Kilmer Drive, around 8:30 p.m. this evening, Saturday, April 23. His truck went off the east side of the roadway and took out a large NIPSCO pole, causing a brief power outage in Milford and as far away as Camelot Lake.

At the time of the accident nearby residents could hear three large explosions.

The unidentified driver was not injured.

At least one power line came detached and was reportedly down at least a half-mile to mile away.

Milford Fire Department and Milford Police are at the scene. The section of road between CR 1100N and Kilmer Drive is closed until NIPSCO can replace the pole and repair the line.
