Betty J. McKee, 85, North Manchester, died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at her home.
She was born Jan. 4, 1931, to Heber Carson and Mamie Valetta (Clark) Hare in North Manchester.
On Jan. 7, 1949, she married Bobbie James McKee. He died Feb. 9, 1996.
McKee was a lifelong North Manchester resident, living at Silver Lake from 1984-95 and returning to North Manchester in 1995. She was a 1948 graduate of Central High School and was a member of Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester.
She was a homemaker and worked at Tracy’s Market, the former R.B.M. Manufacturing, Tri-Wic, Warner Corporation and retired from Marshall Electric in 1995.
Survivors include: a son: Michael J. McKee, Akron; a daughter: Christine A.Miller, Warsaw; grandchildren: Angela E. (Brian) Ball, Nashville, Tenn.; Jason L. Finch, Warsaw; Kelli A. Schneider, Huntington; Abby L. (Troy) Martin, North Manchester; and Mattie R. McKee, North Manchester; great-grandchildren: Shanice Ball, Rory Nolin, Regann Finch, Ashley Schneider and Malery McKee; stepgrand-daughter: Shelby Ball Flohr, Markle; and stepgreat-granddaughter: Kaidyn Flohr.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Orda O. Hare, Joseph L. Hare, James R. Hare and John W. Hare; and five sisters: Ethel Marvin, Josephine Middleton, Helen Anderson, Marjorie Hare and Mary Quinn.
Friend may call from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 SR 114W, North Manchester, with services following at 5 p.m. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 25, at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
