Tennis Team Snaps Losing Skid
The Wawasee girls tennis team picked up its first Northern Lakes Conference win in several years with a 3-2 decision over Goshen.
The Lady Warriors sealed the victory after a 7-6, 6-2 win by Meg Heinisch at No. 3 singles. Wawasee’s other victories came on the doubles courts as Charity Parker and Kabrea Rostochak won on the No. 1 court and Madison Cooper and Brooke Fick won at No. 2. Both teams won by way of 6-4, 6-1 decisions.
“This is the first NLC win that this program has secured in many years and I’m proud of this team for its fight and hard work,” said a relieved Wawasee coach Shane Staley.
Wawasee’s JV team enjoyed a 6-3 win.
Wawasee (2-2, 1-0) will look to continue its good fortune with an NLC contest Tuesday at Concord.
