SOUTH WHITLEY – The season opener for Whitko’s girls tennis team was a bittersweet one Monday, dropping a 3-2 result to visiting West Noble.

Morgan Keirn was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at one singles for Whitko against Vanesa Ratliff, and Jacki Werstler added a 6-2, 7-5 win at two singles for the Wildcats against Lesley Guerrero.

West Noble’s Tara Miller beat Jenna VanCuren love and love in the three singles matchup. In doubles, Lupita Romo and Natalie Iholtz claimed a one and two win against Kellie Waring and Blair Creamer at one doubles and Kaylee Coverstone and Lilly Owsley defeated Jaime Biggerstaff and Lauren Walpole two and love.

Whitko (0-1) will host Maconaquah Wednesday while West Noble (1-0) meets Lakeland this afternoon.
