NEW CASTLE – The Warsaw boys basketball team has earned an invitation to play in the Hall of Fame Classic next December.

The Tigers, who went 25-2 this season, are in the field for the 40th annual event for the third time. Also in the field are Logansport, Lawrence North and New Albany.

The 2016 City Securities Hall of Fame Classic is set for Friday, Dec. 30, at the New Castle Fieldhouse. Logansport will face Lawrence North in the opener at 11 a.m., with Warsaw taking on New Albany in the second game. The consolation game is at 6 p.m. with the championship contest to follow it.

Warsaw won the Northern Lakes Conference title and Class 4-A sectional and regional championships this season. The Tigers lost to McCutcheon in the Class 4-A Lafayette Jefferson Semi-state.

New Albany, led by star sophomore Romeo Langford, beat McCutcheon Saturday night to win the Class 4-A state title. The Bulldogs were 27-1.

Logansport was 15-9 this season, while Lawrence North finished 19-6.

Warsaw also played in the HOF Classic in 1994, when they won the event, and again in 2010.
