Dorothy L. CrosbyDorothy L. Crosby, 100, formerly of Bremen, passed away at 6 a.m. Sunday, March 27, 2016, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.

Dorothy was born on Dec. 18, 1915, in Bremen to Edward and Goldie (Abbiehl) Aker.

She is survived by two children: Larry (Betty) Hirstein, Nappanee; Sheryl (James) Rock, Springfield, Mo.; two stepchildren: Donald (Linda) Crosby; and David (Nona) Crosby; six grandchildren; Bruce (Sharon) Hirstein, Osceola; Pamela (Gary) Peter, Middlebury; Sue (Kent) Myers, Elkhart; Michael (Ronda) Rock, Miami, Fla.; Stephanie (Frank Messley) Rock, Springfield, Mo.; and Chris (Janet) Rock, Ozark, MO.; and nine great-grandchildren: Jonathan Starr; Elizabeth Starr; Darric Peter; Tessa Peter; Mabel Myers; Jimmy Rock; Cory Burton; Rachel Burton; and Oliver Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Ray Hirstein; Ralph Crosby; stepdaughter: Donna Jean Rowe; siblings: Robert Aker; Mildred Whiteman; and Mary Allen.

Dorothy graduated from Bremen High School in 1933. She co-owned and co-founded Hart City R.V. of Elkhart. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, pine needle basket weaving, ceramics, Bingo and cooking. She was well known for her beef popeye recipe and sugar cookies.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, in Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 31, in the funeral home with one hour of visitation prior. Rev. Rob Dauber will officiate. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wakarusa Missionary Church, Wakarusa.
