SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko had plenty of frontline success, but couldn’t build up enough depth points to get past Southwood Tuesday. The Wildcats dropped its first girls track meet of the season, 71-55, to its Three Rivers Conference rivals.

Whitko had six event wins on the day, led by Suzi Sickafoose winning the long jump, 200 dash and 400 dash. Brigit Nemitz and Elizabeth Foutz went one-two in the two-mile, and the two were second and third in the one-mile.

Riley Insley was tops in the pole vault and the Whitko 4×800 relay team of Olivia Stouder, Alexis Fortman, Taylor Reiff and Madison Cook were winners.

Quinn Craig was second in the 300 hurdles and third in high jump. Fortman was second in the 800, followed by Stouder, and Sidney Overmeyer was third in the 400.

Whitko did not have the services of stars Abby Overmeyer or Kaitlyn Reed in the Southwood meet.

Whitko’s next action will take place April 7 at the Whitley County meet.
