Roger E. Shively, 90, North Manchester, died at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2016, in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

He was born May 30, 1930, in Whitley County to Lawrence and Sarah E. (Black) Shively. He graduated from Churubusco High School in 1943. He then served two years of civilian public service.

He attended Manchester College for two years. May 8, 1953, he married Verna M. Hoover.

He was a truck driver for the Church of the Brethren, Windsor, Md. He then was employed at Coppes Kitchens, Nappanee, for 10 years. He then was co-owner with his wife Verna of S&S Cabinet Co., Warsaw, for seven years. He, his wife, and children delivered the Journal Gazette in and surrounding Warsaw from 1970-1980. He then retired from Manchester College maintenance department in 1991 after 18 years service.

He worked part-time at Miller and Sons Lumber, Silver Lake, and Ace Hardware in Warsaw, after retiring. He was a former member of the West Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester.

Roger is survived by his wife, Verna Shively, North Manchester; one son, Karl L. Shively, Goshen; three daughters: Cynthia A. (Bradley) Baumgardner, Tampa, Fla., Donna J. (Quentin) Moudy, Warsaw, and Pamela S. Shively, Shelbyville; one brother, Dale (Jean) Shively, Columbia City; three sisters: Oliva Toor, Symrna Beach, Fla., Pearl “Skip” (Jim) Baughman, Fort Wayne, and Marcella (Ron) Helgesen, Kendallville; grandchildren: Lori Tilsley, Andrew and Brett Bumgardner, Grant and Devyn Shively and Preston, Daryann and Taralynn Moudy; and one great-grandchild, Chase Tilsley.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Noah Shively and four sisters.

Family and friends may call from 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester. Services will take place at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Timbercrest Chapel. Pastor Don Fecher, Rev. Joan Deeter and Pastor Don Ritchey will officiate.  Burial will be at a later date in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.
