ELKHART COUNTY — Gerardo Sanchez, 24, Milford, was transported to IU Health Goshen following a two-vehicle accident on CR 17 at CR 38 in Elkhart County. The accident occurred at 5:40 a.m. today, Friday, March 18.

Elkhart County SHeriff’s Department reports Sanchez was traveling north on CR 17, in his 2004 Volvo, when his vehicle was struck by a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. Peter Helmschrott, 38, Elkhart, turned his vehicle in front of the Sanchez vehicle. Helmschrott, who was not injured, was cited for failure to yield.
