WARSAW — A bar fight landed at least one person in jail after a bouncer was beaten and a victim’s jaw was broken.

Police arrested Jason W. Stromatt, 41, 1092 Greene Drive, Warsaw, on one count of battery causing serious bodily injury, a level 5 felony, and one count of disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor.

At around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, officers with the Warsaw City Police Department were called to Timeout Inn in reference to a fight. Officers arrived to find a victim bleeding from the mouth. The victim was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital, where doctors discovered his jaw was broken. He was then taken to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, for surgery.

A bouncer at the bar related the incident to officers, stating he had noticed a male subject, Donald R. Barton Sr., bothering a female patron. The bouncer asked the man to leave, at which time a second subject, Donald R. Barton II, hit the bouncer with a closed fist.

The bouncer escorted Barton Sr. outside. According to a bartender, Barton II repeatedly hit the bouncer, who fell to the ground. Once he was down, Heather Sizemore, identified as Barton Sr.’s daughter-in-law, kicked and kneed Shoemaker in the face.

Additional witnesses stated that, when the bouncer confronted Barton Sr. and asked him to leave, Stromatt tore off his shirt and assumed an aggressive stance.

The aforementioned victim told officers he grabbed Stromatt and had him in a headlock. Another bartender went on to say that Stromatt hit the victim with a closed fist and Barton II hit the victim repeatedly.

Stromatt is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $10,000 surety and $250 cash bond.
