ELKHART — The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that construction on the CR 29 bridge over U.S. 6 in Elkhart County is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 21; weather permitting. The project will include a new 95-foot single span bridge carrying CR 29 over U.S. 6.

On Monday, March 21, CR 29 will be closed at the intersection with U.S. 6. Drivers should follow posted local detours.
During construction, U.S. 6 will remain open to traffic, but drivers should use caution in the area and watch for stopped traffic. Flaggers may direct traffic when needed.
The project improves safety for motorists on both CR 29 and U.S. 6. The overpass is expected to be completed by early October, weather permitting. The contract was awarded to Superior Construction for $2.3 million.
