Edward S. “Ed” Ganczak, 69, of Elkhart, and formerly of Leesburg, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 10, 2016, at Elkhart Rehabilitation Center.

Edward was born in Elkhart on Aug. 29, 1946, to the late Stanley and Delores (Slushnik) Ganczak.

Ed graduated from Elkhart High School. He then served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1968. Ed retired as a printing handler in 2012 from RR Donnelley in Warsaw, with over 17 years of service. His passion was his family and helping anyone in need; he helped all his sons build their homes. His other passion was living on Saw Mill Lake in the Barbee Chain of Lakes, where he enjoying boating, fishing with family and friends.

Surviving are his three sons: Paul (Nicole) Ganczak of Goshen; Brad (Amanda) Ganczak of Bristol; and Richard (Nicole) Ganczak of Edwardsburg, Mich.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, including his twin: Karen (David) Foster of Mishawaka, and Connie (Steve) Foreman of Elkhart; and former wives: Carol (Mike) Woodworth of Elkhart, and Wanda Layman of Leesburg.

Services celebrating Ed’s life will begin at 1 p.m., with visitation one hour prior on Wednesday, March 16, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Rev. Steve Reshan will officiate. Immediately following, a procession will leave for a committal service at the Prairie Street Cemetery Veteran Towers with military honors by the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard and DAV Chapter No. 19.

Billings Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
