George J. Reed, 86, of Mentone, passed at 6:14 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Fort Wayne.

He was born on Nov. 3, 1929, in Nappanee, to George M. and Dorothy (Hardy) Reed.

He was married on May 29, 1948, in Mentone, to June Brown, she preceded on April 30, 2012.

He was a machinist and an inspector at Precimed Inc. of Columbia City.

He was 1948 graduate of Mentone High School. He was a member of the Mentone Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, camping at Jellystone Park, and attending his grandchildren in sporting events. He loved most of all having his family close to him.

Survivors include: two sons: Terry and wife Debra Reed, Mentone; and Rocky and wife Diane Reed, Pierceton; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and sister: Linda and husband Allen Corwin, Wakarusa.

He was preceded in death by his wife: June Reed; daughter: Salena Ann Reed; son: Max Lane Reed; brothers: Bill and Glen; and sisters: Cora, Glenice, and Lucille

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, March 14, at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 15. Pastor Jeff Truex will officiate. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
