Thomas Logan Whiteneck, 86, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016, in Carmel.

He was born Aug. 29, 1930, in Warsaw, to John W. and Donna C. Pownall Whiteneck. He married Marian Sayler Dickinson in 1989, and she survives.

They have resided in Fishers since that time and were founding members of New Hope Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1948, and Purdue University in 1954 with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the U.S. Air Force, teaching at Samson Air Force Base, Geneva, N.Y.

He lived in San Diego, Calif., employed primarily in the utility sector. He also lived and worked in Penn. and Washington D.C. IN addition in he consulted internationally in Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Jamaica, and Singapore. Since moving to the Indianapolis area, he taught at Ivy Tech and volunteered with several local agencies.

Surviving are his wife; two sons from a previous marriage: John Michael (Brenda), Mesa, Ariz.; Daniel Mark, Boston, Mass.; four stepchildren: Susan (Mike) Tomlinson, Indianapolis; Rosemary (Gaylord) West, Fishers; Jennifer (the late David) Long, Lafayette; and David Dickinson, Indianapolis; nephew: Bruce Whiteneck; sister-in-law: Carol (Bill) Huffer, Warsaw; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings: Robert and Jack Whiteneck, Warsaw; and Joanne Whiteneck Wright, Kalamazoo, Mich; and a son-in-law: David Long, Lafayette.

A family service was held at Summer Trace Senior Living, Carmel.
