Nancy I. Sheaks, 78, North Liberty, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton. She was born on Feb. 22, 1938, in Chicago, Ill. to the late Forney Ivo and Thelma Irene (Smith) Peddycord. On April 17, 1954, in Walkerton, she was united in marriage to Marvin G. Sheaks, who preceded her in death on Nov.25, 1989.
Mrs. Sheaks is survived by three sons: Randy Sheaks, Walkerton; David (Chris) Sheaks, North Liberty; and Timothy Sheaks, Bremen; eight grandchildren: Michelle; Randy Jr.; Renee; Robbie; Ryan; Aimee; Liz; and Casey; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters: Joyce Egger, Richmond; June (John) Everman, Bristol; Betty Peddycord, North Liberty; Jennifer (Roger) Noble, Neb.; two brothers: John Peddycord, North Liberty; Michael (Lynn), Mishawaka. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters: Thelma Klopfenstein; Lou Leevan; and Carol Peddycord; and brother: Milo Peddycord.
Mrs. Sheaks lived most of her life in North Liberty. She worked at Injection Plastics in LaPaz, for twenty years. She was a member of North Liberty United Methodist Church and was active with the North Liberty 4th of July committee for many years. Mrs. Sheaks enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved to dance to her favorite song, “Elvira”. She enjoyed going to the Citgo every morning for her coffee and donuts. Her family would like to thank the staff at Miller’s Merry Manor for their wonderful care.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Palmer Funeral Home, North Liberty. Pastor Ernie Troxell will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Nancy I. Sheaks may be offered to North Liberty United Methodist Church or Alzheimer’s Services, South Bend.
