GOSHEN – Warsaw and Wawasee had multiple athletes listed among the final All-Northern Lakes Conference teams that were formally released Thursday morning.

Girls Basketball
Warsaw had a trio of players from its 6-1 NLC team make the grade. Juniors Dayton Groninger and Madi Graham were voted All-NLC while classmate Page Desenberg was named Honorable Mention All-NLC. Warsaw finished second in the conference to Northridge, which went undefeated at 7-0 and had Baleigh Carithers, Brooke McKinley and Kelly Miller as All-NLC and Marci Miller as Honorable Mention All-NLC.

Wawasee went 2-5 and had senior Kylee Rostochak take All-NLC and junior Aubrey Schmeltz earn Honorable Mention All-NLC.

Goshen (5-2) had Ashton Ellis and Olivia Love as All-NLC and Kyrie Potter honorable mention. NorthWood (4-3) had McKayla Fielstra and Taitlyn Trenshaw All-NLC and Arika Flickinger honorable mention. Memorial (3-4) had Skylar Axsom All-NLC and Cydney Lapczynski honorable mention. Plymouth (1-6) had Alli Andrews All-NLC and Nicole Horvath honorable mention.

Coach of the Year went to Doug Springer of Northridge, who guided the Raiders to a 21-5 overall mark.

Girls Swimming
Warsaw’s Brenna Morgan and Wawasee’s Paige Miller were both named to the All-NLC list after their showing at the conference meet in mid-January. Morgan, a junior, was the conference champion in both the 50 and 100 freestyles for the third straight year, her 23.86 in the 50 set the conference record. Miller, also a junior, was runner-up in both the 200 and 500 freestyles, her 500 swim broke the old event record, but was bested by Katie Hughes of Northridge, who holds the new standard at 5:01.27.

Wawasee senior Kayla Hershberger and Warsaw freshman Delaney Wihebrink both made Honorable Mention All-NLC. Wawasee finished third in the conference slider at 5-2 and Warsaw fourth at 4-3.

Northridge (7-0) won the championship meet, and had Hughes, Sydney Boyer, Francesca DeGregorio, Sydnee Emerson, Lauren Miller, August Hartzell, Melissa Bailey, Sara Troyer and Jenna Miller as All-NLC and Rylee Dahlman as honorable mention. Concord (6-1) had Maddisen Lantz as All-NLC and Alex Beer and Lauren Boone as honorable mention. Memorial (3-4) had Kim Rezutko as All-NLC and Ally Bailey honorable mention. Goshen (2-5) had Emma Hussey as honorable mention. NorthWood (1-6) had Kate Jarvis as honorable mention.

Coach of the Year honors went to both Anthony DeBrota of Warsaw and Joe Keller of Northridge.

Boys Swimming
Warsaw and Wawasee each had a trio of swimmers make the cut for honors. Warsaw (5-2) had seniors Matt Wildman and Ethan Cook each take All-NLC while sophomore Nick Zogbi claimed Honorable Mention All-NLC. Wawasee (4-3) had senior Logan Brugh and sophomore Brady Robinson earn All-NLC while freshman Jared Krugman was Honorable Mention All-NLC.

Northridge ran through the round robin undefeated at 7-0 and won the NLC meet to remain as champions for the 18th consecutive year. Northridge featured Jeremy Burbrink, Seth Cripe, Jesse Drake, Logan Elijah, Camden Koch, Spencer Lehman and Matthew Vancoppenolle on the All-NLC list and Connor Glenn as honorable mention. Concord (6-1) had Stephen Krecsmar, Nathan Rose and Dae’Quan Quinn as All-NLC and Kal Findley and Cameron Green both honorable mention. Honorable mentions went to Hudson Kay of Goshen (3-4), Mitchell Rockrohr of Memorial (2-5) and Teagan Stutsman of NorthWood (1-6).

Coach of the Year honors went to Tom Johnson of Concord.

Wrestling
Warsaw and Wawasee filled up the lists for wrestling. Warsaw senior Andrew Brock and junior Kyle Hatch were named All-NLC, Hatch winning the 138-pound bracket in the conference tournament. Senior Anthony Penn was named honorable mention for the Tigers (3-4). Wawasee senior Tristin Ponsler and freshman Braxton Alexander were both named All-NLC, Ponsler the champion of the 132-pound bracket. Senior Zac McKee was named honorable mention for the Warriors (0-7).

Round robin and NLC tournament champion Elkhart Memorial (7-0) had Christian Mejia, Marcus Mejia, Nick Ritchie, Koby Lundy and David Eli all named All-NLC while Blade Corpe and Nate Williams were both honorable mention. Goshen (6-1) had Jose Montanez and Derek Paz named All-NLC with teammates Hector Flores and Fernando Flores both honorable mention. Plymouth (5-2) had Zane DeVault, Jeremy Splix and Micah Calhoun named All-NLC and Colten Schuler as honorable mention. NorthWood (2-5) moved up to fourth overall in the standings after second-place team finish at the NLC, and had Tanner DeMien, Michael Leonard and Garrett Griffin all named All-NLC. Northridge (4-3) had Owen Eveler, Chris Howe, Connor Graber and Evan Beasley all named All-NLC. Concord (1-6) had Seth Shroyer named All-NLC and Kevin Sibal as honorable mention.

Coach of the Year went to Brian Weaver of Elkhart Memorial.

All-Sports Race
Northridge’s titles in girls swimming and girls basketball has the Raiders just two points back of Warsaw in the girls team race. Warsaw sits at 80 points with Northridge at 78 heading into the spring. Concord is third at 58, followed by NorthWood (52), Goshen (48), Wawasee (43), Memorial (42) and Plymouth (31).

Goshen sits in first place in the boys team standings with 80 points, followed by Northridge in second at 74 boosted by a championship in boys swimming. Concord is in third place at 72 points and Warsaw, with their boys basketball title, are in fourth at 70. Plymouth (62), NorthWood (60), Memorial (55) and Wawasee (31) round out the boys standings.
