Cold-Shooting Costly To Pilots
FORT WAYNE – The Bethel College men’s basketball team could not overcome a tough shooting performance or Saint Francis Tuesday night.
The cold-shooting Pilots dropped an 81-70 final to No. 3 St. Francis in a Crossroads League contest.
Bethel shot just 27-68 overall from the field, including a 5-25 mark from distance in the loss.
The No. 11 Pilots trailed just 36-33 at halftime before the hosts used a 17-4 run in the final half to take control of the game.
Junior guard Clay Yeo led Bethel with 22 points. The former Triton High School star also had six rebounds and four assists for the Pilots.
Caleb Oetjen added 12 points for Bethel, which drops to 21-8 overall and 10-7 in conference play.
Jordyn Coon, a WCHS product, had nine points for the Pilots.
Austin Fox led St. Francis with 17 points to go with 17 rebounds. St. Francis improves to 25-4 overall and stands at 15-2 in league action.
Bethel will wrap up the conference regular season on Saturday by hosting Spring Arbor at 3 p.m. in Mishawaka.
