SOUTH BEND — If you’re looking to lace up your skates and hit the ice at Howard Park, you’ll have to wait until next season.

According to the mayor’s office, the ice rink is now closed for the season, shutting down four weeks ahead of schedule.

Officials say the unseasonably warm temperatures kept melting the ice, putting too much strain on the aging equipment that’s keeping the ice frozen.
