UPDATE: A dump truck driver suffered minor injuries after his truck was struck from behind by a semitractor Thursday afternoon, Feb. 4, on Lake City Highway, west of Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Roger A. Murphy, 65, Baker Street, Plymouth, was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Murphy complained of pain to the back and neck.

The accident occurred at 3:35 p.m. Donald R. Westwater, 55, Larch Lane, Fort Wayne, was eastbound in a 2011 Volvo semitractor registered to Srambaugh and Son LP, Opportunity Drive, Fort Wayne. He told police he saw Murphy’s dump truck slow quickly and was unable to avoid running into the back of the dump truck. Westwater stated he was not injured and refused EMS at the scene.

Murphy, who was driving a 2005 Kenworth dump truck, registered to Renfrows Trucking Inc., East CR 450S, Culver, was slowing for stopped traffic in front of him when his vehicle was struck from behind.

Damage was estimated up to $25,000.

Warsaw Police investigated. Lutheran EMS and Warsaw-Wayne Fire Department responded to the scene.


 

WARSAW — Warsaw Police, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Department and Lutheran EMS responded to an accident involving two semitractors on US 30, in front of 3601 Commerce Drive.

It was reported one of the drivers was transferred to the hospital.

The accident occurred in the eastbound lane.
