Daniel Barton Giles, 63, Plymouth, and formerly of Edwardsburg, Mich., passed away at his home on Friday, Jan. 29, of natural causes.
Dan was born in Indianapolis, the son of Aaron Benjamin and Clarice Opal (Benjamin) Giles on July 16, 1952. He graduated from Carmel High School in the Class of 1970. He then attended Ball State University where he was active in photo journalism and radio.
Photography held a special place in Dan’s heart and he often took photos for friends and family, forever capturing their most important memories. Dan devoted nearly three decades of his life to technology as an astute computer hardware technician. He most recently was employed by National Security Associates. He was a supportive member of the NRA and had often taught gun safety classes.
Dan was always devoted to his family. He loved his children and grandchildren and will leave an irreplaceable spot in their lives. They are: Jennifer A. ‘Jenny’ (Scott) Nelson, Claypool; their children: Haley; Cole; Laura E. (Mark) Woolley, Wakarusa; Dani M. Giles, Wakarusa; and Christopher A. Giles, Plymouth. Two brothers also survive: Aaron B. Giles Jr.; and Robert Giles. He will be forever loved. He was preceded in death by his parents; two spouses: Rose and Kathy; and one sister.
Family and friends will gather at the Plymouth Wesleyan Chapel from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2nd, to remember Dan’s life. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. in the chapel led by youth pastor Taylor Hulse.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Plymouth Wesleyan Church, Plymouth, or the NRA, Fairfax, Va.
