MIDDLEBURY – The home-sided Northridge Raiders did its part, and Wawasee sophomore Brady Robinson set himself up nicely for the finals of the Northern Lakes Conference Boys Swimming Championships.

The Raiders placed all 27 of its preliminary swims in the championship round, seven of those taking the top time Thursday. All three of the relays for Northridge will get the middle lane, and have likely assured itself of repeating as team champion if Thursday’s prelims hold form.

Wawasee placed nine swims in the finals, led by a pair of individual efforts from Robinson in the individual medley and backstroke. Robinson led the medley with a time of 2:01.64 and came through in the back at 55.94. Teammate Jared Krugman will also swim in the championship final of the IM, and Krugman also qualified for the breaststroke finals.

Wawasee’s Logan Brugh is alive in the finals of the 200 and 500 freestyles, and all three of the Warrior relays are alive for the finals.

Warsaw had some head scratchers not qualify for the finals, but still have ample representation in play for championships.

Ethan Cook is the top seed heading into the 50 free finals at 22.47, and teammate Matt Wildman is also swimming in the 50 final. Cook also qualified for the 100 free finals, and Wildman in the breaststroke finals. Adam Doyle and Nick Zogbi also qualified for two championship swims, Doyle in the 100 and 200 freestyles, and Zogbi in the backstroke and IM.

Other Tigers qualified for championship swims include Evan Borchers in the butterfly, Hudson Snyder in the 500, and Zach Taylor and Matt Hastings in the backstroke.

Warsaw has its medley and 400 free relays alive, but its 200 free relay was disqualified. Warsaw also had six different swimmers place ninth in races, settling for top seeds in the consolation rounds.

The championship round of the NLC will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Northridge, which will include the finals of diving, which will begin Saturday morning.
