Cougars Come Up Short At Blackhawk

Lakeland SportsFORT WAYNE – The Lakeland Christian Academy girls basketball team wrapped up its regular season Thursday night with a 56-35 loss at Fort Wayen Blackhawk Christian.

The hosts led 22-9 after the opening period and 38-14 at halftime en route to the win.

Hannah Delp led the offense for the Cougars with 12 points.

Rachel Sand netted 11 points to go with seven rebounds for LCA. Melissa Goss had five points to go with five rebounds and four assists.

Brady Gross scored three points and Anna Reimink and Carissa Urschalitz each had two points for LCA. Ellie Nieveen had a rebound for the Cougars.

Courtney Pulver scored a game-high 22 points to lead Blackhawk Christian to the win.

LCA finishes the regular season at 12-11, while Blackhawk improves to 12-10.

LCA will play either Blackhawk or Elkhart Christian Academy on Feb. 5 in a semifinal game of the Class 1-A Hamilton Sectional at 6 p.m. Blackhawk faces ECA on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the opening game at Hamilton.
