Linda K. CarterLinda K. Carter, 71, Columbia City, died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor.

She was born July 28, 1944, in Sullivan, a daughter of Cisco and Jeanette I. (White) May. She graduated from Sullivan High School. In 1963 she moved to Columbia City.

On Sept. 11, 1982, she was married to Jan Cole Carter. They always made their home in Columbia City. She was employed at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw for over 30 years a nurse’s aide and QNA.

Surviving relatives include two daughters: Debra O’Day, Fort Wayne; and Shirley Cooper, South Whitley; three stepchildren: Ron Sheets, Larwill; Sherry Stidhams, South Dakota; and Michael Carter; several grandchildren; a sister: Bonnie Fitzpatrick, Pierceton; and a brother: Danny May, Warsaw. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters: Carol May; Lois Sheets; Alice Crawford; and Elizabeth Rose Wall.

The funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 30, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.

Preferred memorials are to American Cancer Society.
