Edward A. Leeuw JrEdward A. Leeuw, Jr., 82, Columbia City, passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at his home. Born March 4, 1933, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Edward Sr. and Madonna C. (Manier) Leeuw.

Ed attended Central Catholic High School, graduating with the Class of 1951. On April 7, 1956, he married Lois Eillen Judd at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Ft. Wayne. They moved to Whitley County and lived in Washington Township from 1967 until 2000. They then moved to her family’s farm and built a new home in Jefferson Township. Ed worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years, retiring as a Post Master from Columbia City. He attended St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church. Ed enjoyed traveling with his wife and after retiring they raised mice on the farm.

Survivors include his sons: Ed Leeuw, Mesa, Ariz.; Matt Leeuw, South Whitley; Joe (Amy) Leeuw, South Whitley; John (Willie) Leeuw, Fort Wayne; and Bill (Lori) Leeuw, South Whitley; and eight grandchildren: Josh Leeuw; Rebecca Leeuw; Chelsea Rigler; Jackie Leeuw; Eddie Leeuw; David Leeuw; Kaylee Leeuw; And Drew Leeuw. He was preceded in death by his wife: Lois Leeuw, in 2005; children: Donita and David Leeuw; and brothers: Richard Sr.; and father: Dan Leeuw.

Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at DeMoney Grimes Funeral Home, Columbia City, with a rosary service at 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, Columbia City, with calling one hour prior. Father Gary Sigler will be officiating. Burial will follow at Covington Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made in Ed’s honor to the Humane Society of Whitley County or towards Masses.
