Ronald J. “Woody” Burkhead, 72, of Goshen died Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne after a recent cancer diagnoses.

He was born August 5, 1943, in Sturgis, Mich. to Harold Burkhead and Jessie (Gero) Marks.

Survivors include four children: Miranda (William) Rhodes, Goshen; Mark (Wendy) Burkhead, Middlebury; Gary Burkhead, Elkhart; and Troy (Becki) Burkhead, Syracuse; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister: Susie Overfield, LaGrange; and three brothers: Donald (Delores) Burkhead, Sturgis, Mich.; Bill Burkhead, Corpus Christi, Texas; and formerly of LaGrange; and Bob (Edrena) Burkhead, Liberty. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Jerry Burkhead; and a brother: Harold ‘Pete’ Burkhead.

Woody was a 1962 graduate of LaGrange High School and Air Force veteran. He was a lifetime member of the DAV #15, and member of the local Eagles, VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed camping, fishing and being in nature. Woody attended LifeSpring Community Church, Goshen and was recently baptized January 3, 2016.

Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. Pastor Phil Shenk will officiate. Cremation will take place after the service.
