David Lee Ply, 72, of Wabash, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at his home. He was born Feb. 4, 1943, in Wabash, to John Wesley Ply and Mintha (Shambaugh) Holley.

David was a Wabash High School graduate. He first married Karen Sue Graves. He then married Margaret Poland in Peru, and she preceded him in death. David was a US Navy veteran. He enjoyed tinkering around the house, doing home improvements, cooking, fishing, and watching sports.

He is survived by four children: Kim Nethercutt; David Ply Jr.; and Kristina (Ron) Roberts, all of Peru; and John (Kelly) Ply, Wabash; six grandchildren: Kristen (Christopher) Bowman; Daniel Ray McNear, both of Peru; Cody Lee Ply, Ark.; Jessica (Travis) Haiflich, Auburn; Tyler Morris, Peru; Wesley Ply, Ohio; four great-grandchildren: Braxton Hayes; Jaxson Haiflich; Marley Haiflich, all of Auburn; and Wyatt Morris, Peru; brother: John Henry ‘Sonny’ Ply, Wabash. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his sister: Joann Holley.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash, with Pastor Kay Gaier officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are Wabash County Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
