POLAND — A Central Indiana animal rescue group is seeking the public’s help in finding the owners of seven German Shepherds who were found wandering the countryside near Poland.

A resident found the dogs Jan. 7 and immediately alerted the Indiana GSD and Husky Rescue based in Quincy.

Joanie Zupan, head of the rescue, said she doesn’t know whether the dogs ran off, were stolen and then dumped, or were dumped by a breeder.

“They were scared, confused,” she said. “They’re not mean.”

There are three males and four females, which are possibly pregnant.

“We need to find anyone who knows these dogs, so police can prosecute,” Zupan said. “It will also be thousands of dollars to treat these dogs.”

Many of the animals are in poor health and need immediate medical care. Some of them have issues like arthritis, worn down teeth, heartworms, tumors and back injuries.

“We’ve already had them neutered, they have their shots, they’ve been wormed, and they’ve had preventive care,” Zupan said. “They have not been groomed yet.”

If you think you know who these dogs below to, you can contact Zupan’s rescue at this link.
