Undefeated Tigers At No. 10 In Coaches Poll
The Warsaw boys basketball team is starting to pick up a little attention for its undefeated start to the season.
The Tigers, who sit at 10-0, are ranked No. 10 in this week’s Coaches’ Poll.
Warsaw moved to 10-0 on the season with a 61-40 Northern Lakes Conference win at Northridge on Friday night. Junior star guard Kyle Mangas scored a career-high 29 points in leading coach Doug Ogle’s team to the victory.
The Tigers are 10-0 for the first time to start a season since the 1993-94 team did it.
Warsaw is one of six undefeated teams statewide who are ranked in the IBCA Top 20 poll released today. The Tigers host NLC foe Goshen Friday night and then entertain Fort Wayne Snider on Saturday night.
South Bend Riley is the only other area team ranked in the poll. The Wildcats, who are 12-3 on the season, sit at No. 17 this week.
NorthWood is among the teams receiving votes in the poll. The Panthers are 11-1 after an NLC win at Wawasee Friday night. Coach Aaron Wolfe’s talented team has won its last eight games since a 49-48 loss to Fishers. The Panthers, who will host Warsaw on Jan. 29, play at New Prairie Tuesday night and then host Northridge Friday night.
Mishawaka Marian is also receiving votes in the coaches’ poll. The Knights are 9-2 on the season.
