Hatch Remains Perfect, Tigers Fourth

Another championship for Warsaw wrestling standout Kyle Hatch.

Hatch continued his undefeated season on Saturday by taking the title in the East Noble Invitational.

The junior won the 138-pound championship in improving his season mark to 25-0. Hatch was also named the Most Outstanding Wrestler for the tournament.

Hatch, who has placed at the State Finals each of the past two seasons, was coming off his 100th win and a championship in the prestigious Al Smith Invitational at Mishawaka High School on Dec. 29-30.

Andrew Brock also turned in a big performance Saturday for the Tigers. He claimed the individual title at 220 for coach Justin Smith’s squad.

Kameron Hile notched a runner-up finish at 132 for the Tigers, who finished in fourth place in the final team standings.

Gustavo Cartagena was third at 113, while Fransisco Ramirez was third at 152, Brady Stout third at 160 and Anthony Penn third at heavyweight for Warsaw. Shawn Hale was fourth at 106 with Luis Juarez fourth at 182.  Jose Grimmett was sixth at 126 for the Tigers.

Warsaw (5-12 overall, 2-3 in the NLC) will host Goshen in a conference match Thursday night. The Tigers then take part in the Garrett Invitational Jan. 16 and host Concord Jan. 20. The NLC meet is Jan. 23 at Elkhart Memorial with the sectional on Jan. 30 at Plymouth.
