WABASH – The Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team rode a big second quarter effort to a conference win at Northfield Friday night.

The Vikings outscored the hosts by 18 points in the pivotal period en route to topping the Norsemen 76-63 in Three Rivers Conference action.

Northfield led 13-12 after the first quarter before the Vikings used a 23-5 edge in the second quarter to take a 35-18 halftime lead.

Gavin Bussard canned a game-high 24 points to lead Valley to its second straight win.

Trevor Neeley netted 19 points, including hitting five 3-pointers, for the Vikings.

Alec Craig finished with 17 points and Jarod Duzenbery added nine for the winners. Valley hit eight treys in the victory.

Austin Trump scored 20 points and Noah Shear finished with 19 to lead Northfield, which has lost three in a row.

Valley improves to 4-6 overall and goes to 2-1 in league play. Northfield drops to 4-7 overall and 1-2 in conference action.

Valley hosts Plymouth and Northfield plays at Madison-Grant tonight.
