MILFORD — Several Milford businesses and residents were in the dark early this morning on the reason why lights flickered and shut off around 5:30 a.m.

Businesses along Old SR 15 were without power this morning while NIPSCO crews worked to restore electricity to the 96 affected customers. According to NIPSCO representative Eddie Melton, the outage was caused by a wire that came off of an insulator.

Melton said power was restored by 7:30 a.m., but local business representatives said it was closer to 8 or 8:30 a.m. when they finally saw the light. Companies along Old SR 15, such as Pigtek and Leading Edge Fabrication, waited for power to be restored to get back to work.

This comes just over a week after an ice storm caused extensive power outages across Kosciusko County, leaving some businesses without a profitable day for up to four days.
