Lakeland SportsWINONA LAKE – A strong team effort carried the Lakeland Christian Academy girls basketball team to an overtime win over Elkhart Christian Academy Thursday night.

The duo of Rachel Sand and Hannah Delp led the way as the hosts topped the Eagles 49-48 in overtime.

LCA led 37-27 entering the fourth quarter before ECA rallied to tie the game at 43-43 at the end of regulation play.

The Cougars outscored the Eagles 6-5 in the extra session to collect their third straight win.

Sand led the winners with 15 points to go with eight rebounds. Delp netted 14 points for the Cougars.

Melissa Goss scored nine points and Carissa Urschalitz had six points and six rebounds for LCA, which improves to 9-7 with the win.

Alyssa Buckles scored a game-high 26 points to lead ECA, which drops to 3-11.

LCA plays at Argos and ECA hosts Oregon-Davis on Saturday night.
