ELKHART — The Wawasee boys and girls freshman basketball teams competed at Elkhart Memorial Tuesday evening.

The girls team came out on top with a 34-18 victory. Hannah Rhodes led the way with nine points. Morgan Adkins added eight points while McKenzie Smith scored six. Faith Swihart led the team with 10 boards.

In the boys game it was a heartbreaking loss for Wawasee as Memorial escaped with a 34-33 win. Steven Hauntz paced the Warriors with 11 points, Aaron Evans added another 10.

Wawasee’s boys (2-5) will travel to East Noble Thursday night. Wawasee’s girls (4-1) will host Northridge on Jan. 18.
