Yeo Surpasses 1,000 Points For Pilots

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Bethel’s men’s basketball team got the job done on the court and had a bit of history happen in the process. The Pilots defeated No. 22 Keiser University, 77-75, Thursday night and had a pair of milestones take place.
Junior Clay Yeo passed the 1,000-point threshold. Yeo had a monster night on the court, scoring 34 points in becoming the second-fastest Pilot to ever reach the mark. Yeo needed just 44 games in the blue and white to achieve the feat after transferring from Valparaiso University after his freshman season.
Bethel (11-2) took a 57-55 lead when Yeo hit a three with 10:12 to go and never trailed the rest of the game.
Coach Mike Lightfoot also reached a mini milestone with the victory, earning his 750th win against Keiser.
“It was a great gut check win,” Lightfoot said. “I’m proud of the way our guys responded from last night’s loss.”
Luke Fisher hit a huge layup with 52 seconds remaining to give Bethel a three-point lead. Fisher finished with 12 points and seven rebounds. Travis Smith and Caleb Oetjen each scored 11 points and combined for 15 boards.
Keiser University, coached by legendary the Rollie Massimino, were led by Stanley Whittaker’s 22 points and five assists.
Bethel returns to action Dec. 28 at Grace Bible College.
