COLUMBIA CITY – Warsaw let another one slip away Tuesday night. Leading by 13 points heading into the fourth quarter at Columbia City, the Lady Tiger basketball team was outscored 21-6 by the Lady Eagles in a 49-47 final in favor of the home side.

Warsaw, which had won 14 of the last 15 games in the series against City, took a 25-14 lead into the lockerroom and had a 41-28 lead with just eight minutes to go. But the shooting of the Eagles in the final quarter, and opportunities made in key moments, presented a victory.

Columbia City did very well off of 18 Warsaw turnovers, turning the mistakes into 24 points. City also capitalized on eight second-chance points and made all three of its three-point attempts.

Holly Martinez had a big night for the Lady Eagles, scoring 20 points and recording three rebounds, two steals and a block and hit all of the three-pointers. Bella Krieg had 10 points for City.

Dayton Groninger continued to carry Warsaw, scoring 11 points in the first half and 17 points overall to go with six rebounds and four steals. Kacy Bragg finished her night with 10 points and five rebounds and Kenzie Welk chipped in eight points.

The Columbia City JV bested Warsaw 31-23.

Warsaw (1-10) will visit Wawasee Saturday night while City (3-7) will host East Noble Saturday afternoon.
