WINONA LAKE — The Center for Lakes & Streams is celebrating another year of making area lakes and streams clean, healthy, safe and beautiful. During 2015, the center conducted groundbreaking research, educated the community about caring for local waterways, and brought the lakes into classrooms across the county.

Here are a few of the things the center was able to accomplish with public support:

  • Publish 19 lake-specific health reports to assess the health of Kosciusko County’ s lakes.
  • Respond to and test waterbodies affected by five chemical spills in Kosciusko County.
  • Sample and analyze streams biweekly year-round, and sample lakes and streams weekly during the summer months
  • Conduct a lake economic impact study to assess the impact of local lakes on the county’s economy. The study is expected to be published in 2016.

Those who believe in the work the center does, that it is important, and that it is beneficial to families in Kosciusko County, are being asked to consider a year-end gift to the Center for Lakes & Streams.

Donations are tax-deductible and can be given through its website or can be sent by mail to: Grace College, 200 Seminary Drive, Winona Lake, IN 46590, with a designation of “Center for Lakes & Streams” in the memo line.
