Roger F. Morris, 88, of North Liberty, passed away at 8:58 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at his home.
He was born on May 5, 1927, in North Liberty to the late Ford and Bertha “Pauline” (Benjamin) Morris. On Sept. 9, 1950, in North Liberty, he was united in marriage to Frances L. (Hocker) Morris who preceded him in death on June 17, 2006. He was also preceded in death by an infant son: Marlon Morris; granddaughter: Krista Morris; and four brothers: Bert; Dean; Jerry; and Guy Morris.
Roger is survived by his daughter: Mary F. (Rich) Barenie, Plymouth; three sons: Andrew (Donna) Morris, Wellston, Mich.; Eric D. (Laura) Morris, North Liberty; and Paul R. (Kelly) Morris, Murrieta, Calif.; nine grandchildren: Karen Bright; Suzanne Kuskye; Branden MOrris; Stacey Morgan; Rebecca Murphy; Erica Morris; Tyler Morris; Mason Morris; and Andrew Morris; five great-grandchildren; two sisters: Sharon (Ron) Vernon, Lancaster, Ohio; and Kay (Doug) Holley, New Haven.
Roger was a lifelong resident of North Liberty. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. While serving in the United States Navy, he was a deep sea diver and underwater welder. Roger worked as a conductor and switchman for the NJI and I Railroad, retiring in 1986 after 38 years of service. Roger was a member of the North Liberty Church of Christ and a member of the American Legion in North Liberty. He was a very dedicated husband, taking care of his wife while she battled M.S.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at North Liberty Church of Christ, North Liberty. Pastor Tim Stewart will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. riends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Palmer Funeral Home-North Liberty is assisting the family with arrangements.
