James M. “Jim” Mench, 62, Syracuse, died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at Lakeland Rehab & Healthcare in Milford.

He was born on June 9, 1953, in Goshen, to James M. and Ruth E. (Knisley) Mench. He was a lifetime Syracuse area resident and graduated in 1973 from Wawasee High School in Syracuse.  He retired in 2008 from Dana Corporation (Formerly Weatherhead) in Syracuse after 30 years.

He enjoyed being physically fit and spent lots of time over the years at the Fitness Firm, R & R Fitness and Lakeside Fitness in Syracuse.

He is survived by two sons: Jeremiah Mench, Syracuse; Jason (Kyra) Mench, Marion; two brothers: Dennis (Pam) Mench, Syracuse; Tom Mench of Billings, Mont.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Jeffrey Mench.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Memorial services will follow at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Stan Owen of the Syracuse Church of God officiating. Cremation will take place at cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. SR 15, Warsaw. Private cremation burial will take place in the Syracuse Cemetery.
