Cecil JenkinsCecil Dean Jenkins, 89, rural North Manchester, died at 2 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at Miller’s at Oak Pointe where he had been a resident since Jan. 2013.

He was born Feb. 3, 1926, in Whitley County, a son of Harry F. and Jessie (Stoner) Jenkins. His formative years were spent in the rural South Whitley and Sidney area. He completed his education at Sidney High School. On March 8, 1947 he was united in marriage to Edith L. Hippensteel. They have always made their home in southern Kosciusko County, moving to their present home in 1962.

He was employed at Farm Equipment in North Manchester for 12 years, Schrader’s Automotive in Warsaw for 18 years and Whitley Mobile Home for 15 years.

Surviving relatives include his wife: Edith; three children: Joe Lynn (Joetta) Jenkins, South Whitley; Susan Jan (Daniel) Weicht, North Webster; and James S. (Lori) Jenkins, South Whitley; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister: Doris Rhoades, South Whitley. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Everett and Merritt; and a sister: Icel Knight.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. The burial will be in South Whitley Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Heartland Home Health and Hospice.
