Whitko Ladies Continue Winning Ways
FORT WAYNE – The Whitko girls basketball team continued its early-season roll Wednesday night.
The Wildcats used an outstanding pair of quarters to post a 75-52 win at Fort Wayne Northrop.
Whitko, ranked No. 9 in Class 2-A, trailed 18-14 after the opening period of play versus the Bruins. The Wildcats then outscored the hosts 47-15 over the next two quarters, including 21-6 in the second stanza, to take control.
Senior Jennifer Reiff tossed in 17 of her 18 points in the opening half for the Wildcats, who improve to 7-1 on the season.
Junior Aly Reiff netted 16 points, with 14 of those coming in the second half. Junior Brianna Cumberland scored 15 and junior Kennedy Krull 14 for the winners.
Northrop, which has lost five in a row, drops to 1-6.
Whitko will play a Three Rivers Conference game at North Miami Saturday night. Northrop hosts Fort Wayne Dwenger Friday night.
